Online lesson: Winter 2026 Program (SESSION 4) The gemmological study of the Portuguese Crown Jewels that made in preparation for the opening of the Royal Treasure Museum confirmed the intimate relationship between the Portuguese royal house with Brazilian diamonds that comprise over 90% of the gem materials in the collection in different cutting styles of the period (18th-19th centuries). Emeralds, rubies, sapphires, spinels, quartz as well as biogenic gem materials, were also identified among other gemstones in a total of over 22,000 fully documented items.
