BOOK REVIEWS
What are the gemmology journals, trade press and expert professionals saying about GEMPEDIA
The Journal of Gemmology
The prestigious The Journal of Gemmology, established since 1934 by the Gemmological Association of Great Britain has issued a very rewarding and motivating review written by research gemmologist Dr. Lore Kiefert. As Dr Kiefert predicted, I have been indeed adding new terms and editing the existing ones and hope to share them in a forthcoming opportunity and I am grateful to all the colleagues and friends, including the author of the book review, that have contributed to this never-ending endeavour.

The book represents an unique gem "vocabulary". It's an up-to-date review the most important words used for gems, gemology as well as to social activities such as KPCS. Great work Rui! Michal
As soon as I received GEMPEDIA by mail I sent this DM on Instagram but I think it hasn’t been read. I’ll copy it here: Dear Mr. Galopim De Carvalho,
my name is Giulia Rocco Tecchia, and I recently received your remarkable “comprehensive glossary for gemstones and gemmology,” GEMPEDIA.
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the dedication you included; it means so much to me. I became a gemmologist after leaving a career that left me unfulfilled. Although I initially studied to become a notary, I made the difficult decision to pursue my passion and moved to London to attend the GIA on campus. It was the best choice I ever made for myself.
Your dedication in such an expertly organized and clearly articulated book resonates deeply with me. Thank you once again. I truly admire your work and hope to become as knowledgeable and skilled in gemstones, gemmology and jewels as you are.
I now live in Italy, my home country, where I work for a company I genuinely enjoy, doing what I love.
Thank you again.
Best regards,
Giulia
The book was a present for my husband that he is gemologist also. And thank you dedication
Particularly useful for finding out what stones with sometimes dubious trade names really stand for (e.g. new jade).
This book is a gemological dictionary that covers scientific, commercial and historical aspects: fascinating!
