Session 1, June 15 Durability and stability properties as a major criteria for gem selection. Mechanical resistance (hardness, tenacity) and thermal, chemical and light stability. Some popular examples with care requirements. Jewellery types and setting types and their gemstone damage risks during manufacturing and under normal wearing conditions.

Session 2, June 17 Gemstone cuts. Challenges of different cutting styles and extreme proportions. Differences between a one-time selection of a limited or vast quantity of specific gemstones, hues, shapes or sizes versus the re-ordering for a feasible planning of gem-set jewellery collections.

Session 3, June 19 Diamond classification principles in brief (the so-called 4 Cs) and their impact in market value. Criteria for selecting diamonds. Case study: the planning/budgeting of a diamond ring using different quantities and categories of diamonds.
